AC DC converters are electronic devices that convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). Among the most commonly used AC DC converters is the PSA075-120, which is used to convert AC to low voltage DC. This device is mainly used in applications which require electric motors, temperature controlling systems, power supplies, and other DC applications
The PSA075-120 AC DC converter consists of a step-down transformer, rectifier and filter circuit along with a voltage regulator. The transformer transfers the incoming AC power to a lower AC voltage. This is then fed to a rectifier and filter circuit which converts the AC power to DC power. Finally, the voltage regulator circuit is used to ensure a constant DC output voltage is obtained even when the input voltage changes.
In operation, the PSA075-120 AC DC converter first steps down the AC supply voltage using a transformer. This is then fed to a diode bridge rectifier which converts the AC into a half-wave DC. From this a filter capacitor forms a DC voltage waveform. The filter capacitor then smooths out the various pulses that form the DC output waveform.
The DC output is then fed to a sequential voltage regulator circuit which monitors and maintains the DC output voltage at a fixed value. This therefore allows the PSA075-120 AC DC converter to maintain a constant DC output voltage even in the presence of changes in the input voltage. The output voltage level is adjustable via a potentiometer.
The PSA075-120 AC DC converter is designed for use in applications which require electrically driven motors, such as Fans, Air Conditioners, Water Pumps, Refrigerators, and EV Chargers. It has a maximum input voltage of 105V and a maximum output voltage of 120V. The maximum output current is 5A, making it ideal for moderate power inputs.
