Working Principle

The working principle of PT5021M is based on the synchronous buck converter. In this case, two MOSFETs, an upper and a lower, serve as an ideal switch that can alternately connect and disconnect the input voltage source to the converter\'s output load.

When the upper MOSFET is turned on and the lower MOSFET is turned off, the input voltage is applied to the transformer, then through the rectifier diode to the output capacitor, the output capacitor charge and the voltage level rises, and the transformer primary side current increases with the output voltage increase.

When the lower MOSFET is turned on and the upper MOSFET is turned off, the energy stored in the inductor is delivered through the secondary winding of the transformer, the rectifier diode to the output capacitor, the output voltage decreases, and the transformer primary side current decreases with the output voltage decrease.

PT5021M also features advanced protection functions such as Overtemperature, Overcurrent, OVP, UVP, OTP, and SCP. It is equipped with a digital communication interface, each controller can communicate with the host processor. The correct customer application settings can be set up in a easy and convenient way.
