PT6701N Application Field and Working Principle
DC-DC Converters are an important component of power supply and can be used in many applications. PT6701N is one type of DC-DC Converters, which has been widely used in the areas of computing, automotive, consumer electronics, telecommunication, medical and industrial areas. PT6701N is a highly efficient synchronous buck converter with adjustable output voltage. It integrates high efficiency power MOSFET. The integrated MOSFET allows steady switching with extremely low RDS(ON) with no external diodes needed. The synchronous buck converter has a wide 4V to 60V input range, and the programmable output voltage is adjustable between 0.8V to 10V, a minimum load current is no more than 0.1mA, and the output power can up to 24W to supply the load. The switching frequency is fixed and operation temperature range is -40℃ to +85℃, it is able to operate from -40℃ with a maximal efficiency reach up to 92%. With an OVP, OCP, OTP and UVLO Protections in the package, the design of PT6701N is easy to use and high reliable.
Working Principle of PT6701N DC-DC Converters mainly depends on switch-mode power conversion. In switch-mode power conversion, voltage transfer is realized by on/off switching of power transistors, and the process is done synchronously for correct operation. The basic structure of the buck converter is composed of a power transistor, an inductor, and a capacitor. A pulse signal is sent to the switching transistor. When the transistor turns on, electric energy is stored in the inductor, and when the transistor turns off, the electric energy stored is discharged and transferred to the load. In the process of switch on and off of the power transistor, a voltage drop and spike are formed and it causes the power loss. Thus, an ideal switch ideally only supplies current with no voltage change and it makes sure that all energy is carried away by load currents. The PT6701N is able to provide an output voltage range of 0.8V to 10V with various input voltage, and it also has stable frequency, OVP, OCP, OTP and UVLO Protections. It is an ideal choice for a wide range of applications.
