Power entry connectors consist of inlets, outlets, and modules, and the PX0590/63 model is no exception. It is designed for power entry applications in instruments and equipment, fluorescent lighting, consumer and commercial audio/video products. This series of connectors is designed for use with cords and wire-to-wire applications, that is, the cable to the AC receptacle is terminated either with wires or with a cord side. In the case of a cord side connection, a molded-in-place cord mount is used. The PX0590/63 connector features a double-sided locking mechanism, providing secure connections and preventing accidental disconnection. The locking jaws are designed to take up the slack of the connecting cable and securely engage the plug. The connector also features a tamper-resistant plastic cover, for additional protection. It is also UL approved and meets the requirements of CSA C22.2 no. 230-96 for both indoor and outdoor applications. The PX0590/63 power entry connector’s working principle is based on two separate components. The first component is a receptacle, which provides a mechanism to securely attach the connector to the device. The second component is a locking jaw. This locking jaw is keyed and engages the plug to ensure a secure connection. The PX0590/63 is designed for use with NEMA, CCC, and IC type cords and plugs. The NEMA and CCC designs feature a locking system that engages when the plug is inserted and prevents the plug from coming out unless the locking mechanism is engaged. The IC type cord is designed to be terminated with a wire termination, instead of being terminated with a cord side connector. The PX0590/63 power entry connectors are reliable and are suitable for use in a variety of applications. They have been tested and certified for safety and are recommended for use in applications where safety is paramount.
