Motion Sensors - Accelerometers
Accelerometers are sensors which measure the acceleration of an object or a system. They can also measure gravity, gravity-related forces, or vibration. Accelerometers are used in a wide variety of applications ranging from automotive, airframe, aerospace, ground robots, industrial automation, medical, health and safety, consumer electronics, and civil engineering. Some of the well-known types of accelerometers used are piezoelectric accelerometers, quartz crystal accelerometers, electrostatic force accelerometers, and fiber-optic accelerometers.
The PXLS63333AES is a low-g acceleration sensor designed for sensing and measurement of acceleration in both linear and nonlinear acceleration (inertial) applications. This parallel-plate device is manufactured using a proprietary process to achieve excellent precision and reliability. It offers low-power, high-performance acceleration sensing and measurement capability in a wide temperature range.
The PXLS63333AES uses two symmetric sensing elements which measure the acceleration along two different directions. The accelerometer uses an ASIC, or application-specific integrated circuit, to measure the acceleration along the x-axis and y-axis. The ASIC is also used to control the operation of the accelerometer and to process the output data. The ASIC contains the signal conditioning circuitry, an A/D converter, and the DAC to output the acceleration data.
