- Q4006DH3TP is a Thyristor Triggered Access (TRIAC) which is typically used for medium-power family appliances, such as light dimmers, speed level controllers for fan motors and heating control devices.

- Working Principle:
- A TRIAC is a 3-terminal semiconductor device for controlling current. It is a cousin of the SCR or Silicon Controlled Rectifier, but it can be turned on or off by either an AC voltage applied to the Gate terminal or a DC voltage.
- When a small current is passed through the gate terminal and this is negative in respect to the main terminals MT1 and MT2, a current will flow from MT1 to MT2, otherwise known as a “forward conduction” mode. Once the gate current is removed, the current will no longer flow. This is known as the “off” state.
- Additionally, the TRIAC can be triggered into a “reverse conduction” mode, where current will flow from MT2 to MT1. This is achieved by passing a positive current through the gate terminal, which causes the circuit to be momentarily reversed.
- The Q4006DH3TP is a two-terminal device which has all the characteristics of a TRIAC, but with a fixed firing angle of 60 degrees.
