Thyristors – TRIACs

A Thyristor-TRIAC (Triode for Alternating Current) is a semiconductor device mainly used in low voltage and high power applications. It consists of three terminals that form a semiconductor junction between them. The TRIAC is a controlled rectifier that can be triggered into either a conducting or nonconducting state. It is a form of steady-state switch and can be used to switch high voltages and currents.
