R2A20112ASP#W0 represents an AC-DC power factor correction (PFC) integrated power management IC (PMIC) designed to deliver efficiency in a wide range of applications including set top boxes, DVD recorders, LCD monitors and HDTV power supplies.
The R2A20112ASP#W0 is specifically designed to provide high performance, low cost power factor correction (PFC) functionality for up to 250W output power. The low ripple response of the R2A20112ASP#W0 results in DAC sounds becoming clearer and the audio environment becomes more natural. In addition, the R2A20112ASP#W0 supports high performance of active PFC, which is enabled by its internal PFCMCU with high precision precision control.
The module includes a closed loop active PFC boost converter with an integrated control IC and an optional CCM PFC controller. The PFC controller can be connected to an optional current sensing resistor in the PFC boost converter to enable current feedback control. The active loop PFC boost converter provides high efficiency power factor correction and reduces the amount of power loss due to harmonic distortion. It also helps to reduce EMI emissions and supports high ambient temperature operation.
The optional current sensing resistor provides a feedback loop to the controller that helps it accurately control the switching of the power switch and maintain a constant output voltage. The output voltage setting is adjustable by an external resistor connected to the Vin pin of the PFC controller. This feature allows the R2A20112ASP#W0 to operate in a wide variety of voltage ranges and allows for efficient operation at low line input voltages.
The R2A20112ASP#W0 also includes a PFC adaptive current control (AC2) algorithm which ensures stable operation of the PFC boost converter while the input voltage is greater than 210V.
