R36120 Application Field and Working Principle
R36120 is a Rectifier-Single type diode, which is most commonly used for rectifying current in a circuit. It can be used for both AC and DC applications, as it works by converting alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). This single diode is a widely used component in a variety of electrical and electronic applications, ranging from power control to signal conditioning.
The R36120 has a reverse blocking capability of 1200 volts and can handle a continuous forward current of 1.5 Amps. It also has a peak forward surge capacity of 30 Amps and a forward voltage drop of 0.9 volts at 1 Amp. It is widely used in rectifier circuits and is suitable for use in a variety of voltage and power applications. The diode is also temperature compensated, so its performance does not change with temperature changes.
A typical power rectifier circuit for an AC to DC circuit consists of a bridge rectifier, some filtering, and a voltage regulator. The bridge rectifier contains four diodes arranged in a "bridge" configuration and is used to convert an alternating current (AC) signal to a direct current (DC) signal. The filtered DC voltage is then applied to a voltage regulator circuit which takes the incoming DC voltage and adjusts it to a required output voltage. The R36120 is most commonly used in a bridge configuration and can handle up to 1.5 Amps in a continuous forward current.
The working principle of the R36120 is based off of a PN junction diode. It works by exploiting the controllable unidirectional electric current characteristic of a PN junction. In electrical circuits, this allows a diode to act as an electric switch, controlling the flow of current in one direction only. For example, when a voltage is applied to the diode, current flows in one direction through the diode. Following that, when the applied voltage exceeds a certain point, the diode stops conduction and the current flow will reverse.
In most applications, the R36120 is used as a free-wheeling diode with a reverse blocking voltage of 1200 volts. It is connected in a circuit with a forward voltage drop of 0.9 volts at 1 amp. In this way, it acts as a type of voltage/current valve, allowing current to flow as needed but also preventing current from flowing in the opposite direction.
The R36120 is an extremely useful component and is widely used in a variety of AC/DC and DC/DC circuits. From powering automotive electrical components to using in electronics and electrical designs, the R36120 is an invaluable component capable of performing a multitude of tasks in controlled and efficient manner.
