The reverse voltage applied across the PN junction when the gate is negative tends to create “avalanche” breakdown, a condition where the junction breaks down abruptly.

The R4250TS is also designed with over-voltage protection capability, which is achieved by controlling the gate current and voltage. This helps in protecting the device from any sudden over-voltage or over-current surges, which can result in burning out of the device. All these features make the R4250TS a versatile rectifier, suitable for a wide range of applications.
