R440-AQSS is an analytical quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) system which can measure micron-scale changes in mass. The application field of R440-AQSS covers a wide range, from industrial to biological uses. It has been used in samples in materials science, electrochemistry, and thin-film growth, as well as membrane protein experiments and cell and tissue studies. Its features also make it an attractive tool for research into new materials and less explored systems.

A basic R440-AQSS system consists of four basic parts: a quartz crystal oscillator, a counter module, an amplifier module, and a digital display. The quartz crystal oscillator contains a resonator having a metallic layer deposited on a quartz crystal. This resonator is held in a gas environment with the counter module, amplifier module, and digital display connected to the quartz crystal oscillator. When a sample is placed onto the quartz crystal, its mass affects the vibration of the quartz crystal and varies the frequency of the oscillator, which in turn is translated into a measurable digital signal.

The working principle of the R440-AQSS is based on the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) effect. A quartz crystal oscillates at a frequency determined by its size. When a sample is placed on the oscillator, its mass changes the force of vibration of the quartz crystal, which in turn modifies the frequency and can be detected by the R440-AQSS. By measuring the frequency change of the oscillator due to the presence or absence of the sample, the mass-sensing capability of the R440-AQSS can be used to accurately measure changes in the mass of a sample on the quartz crystal.

R440-AQSS has the advantage of being easy to use due to its plug-and-play design. It can automatically measure changes in mass without a manual calibration. This allows researchers to quickly set up experiments and obtain results without the need for constant manual adjustments. Moreover, the system is sensitive and can detect changes in mass as small as 1nanogram.

The R440-AQSS can be used for a variety of applications in both industrial and biological fields. In the industrial application field, it has been used for measuring thin-film growth, materials characterization, and electrochemistry. In the biological application fields, it has been used for tissue and cell studies, as well as membrane protein experiments. The R440-AQSS is also attractive for research into new materials and less explored systems. The device has a wide application range and is a useful tool for research and development in any lab.
