Application Field

Working Principle
The RB095B-60TL is a fast-acting, silicon rectifier diode with a low forward voltage drop and low leakage current. Its low profile solution can withstand high surge power and is ideal for applications that require overvoltage protection. It includes an anode, cathode, and body, and works according to the following principle.
When no current is flowing, the diode is said to be in the “off” state. In this state, the diode allows no current to pass. When a positive voltage is applied to the anode and a negative voltage to the cathode, and the voltage is greater than the threshold voltage, the diode is said to be in the “on” state. In this state, the diode allows current to flow freely. The level of current passing through the diode is determined by the voltage applied to the anode and the resistance of the circuit.
When a negative voltage is applied to the anode and a positive voltage to the cathode, and the voltage is greater than the threshold voltage, the diode is again said to be in the “on” state. In this state, the diode allows current to flow freely from the cathode to the anode. This is the only way in which current can flow in the reverse direction.
The RB095B-60TL can be used to protect against overvoltages and excessive current flow under the following conditions: when a high voltage is applied to the anode or a low voltage is applied to the cathode; when the circuit is overloaded or has a short circuit; and when the device is subjected to surge currents.
