A DC-DC converter is a device that takes a direct current (DC) input and produces a different DC output voltage. In dual mode the input voltage is adjusted based on the position of the voltage setting switches, allowing for higher or lower output voltage as needed. In synchronous buck mode the input voltage is switched to the output voltage.
The operation of the REM10-1215S/C is based on a pulse width modulation (PWM) control scheme. It uses a PWM signal to control the switching of power MOSFETS in order to regulate the output voltage. During operation, the PWM signal varies in frequency and duty cycle (ratio of the on and off time of the PWM signal) to control the amount of power delivered to the output. The frequency of the PWM signal can be set with a trim pot.
