Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) Filters are filtering components used to select one signal frequency from a wide variety of very different frequencies. The RF3404E is one such component, capable of rejecting undesired frequencies while allowing desired frequencies to pass with minimal distortion. The working principle of the RF3404E filter is relatively simple: it is designed to select a frequency signal of 4GHz~4.8GHz. The RF3404E is a SAW filter consisting of two pieces of piezoelectric substrate on either side of a patterned metallic interdigital transducer or IDT. The input and output ports of the filter are connected to the IDT, allowing the input RF signals to enter the filter through the input port, where it is converted into an acoustic wave by the IDT. The wave then propagates in both directions, with the undesired frequencies being filtered out and reflected from the substrate. The output port will collect the reflected signal and the desired frequencies are thus separated from the other frequencies and output through the filter.

The acoustic filter offers good wideband harmonic distortion rejection, as well as excellent surface flatness and temperature stability. The SAW filter\'s low-cost and high performance characteristics make it suitable for various applications, including consumer goods, medical devices, RF communications equipment, GPS receivers, and autonomous vehicles.
