RF Front Ends refer to all the components that are used to convert the higher-frequency radio signals from the antenna to the lower-frequency signals that are used for signal processing in a system. RFX8050W is an RF Front End, which mainly consists of a low noise amplifier (LNA) and a power amplifier (PA). Its application field and operating principle are introduced in the following.
Application Field
The RFX8050W RF Front End is designed for the 3G, 4G and 5G cellular network band that operates in the frequency range of 60 MHz to 6 GHz. It is suitable for use in applications such as smartphones, tablets, routers, repeaters, set-top boxes, and other small form-factor electronic devices. Moreover, it can be used in other fields such as robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), medical equipment, and so on. Working Principle
The RFX8050W is a low-noise amplifier (LNA), a power amplifier (PA), and a frequency down converter with a power detector. This combined unit simplifies the system design and reduces PCB layout complexity. It works as follows: the LNA amplifies the low-level input signal from the antenna to an acceptable level. The PA then amplifies the signal to the required level before passing it onto the frequency down converter. The frequency down converter down-converts the signal and passes it to the power detector module before sending it onto the modem. Finally, the power detector module measures the output power and forwards the data to the modem to be used for various functions.
