PTC Resettable Fuses are widely used in a wide range of applications due to their reliability and safety benefits. The RGE1200 is just one of the many fuse designs developed for particular applications. This fuse offers protection at higher currents and voltages, especially when combined with appropriate terminals, circuit protection components, and a suitable power distribution system.

The RGE1200 has an integrated temperature feedback which helps to prevent the device from entering a full open circuit state when exposed to high temperatures. In addition, the fuse is engineered with an arc quenching tube which helps to resist thermal runaway in over-current conditions and protect against arc faults in the multiple failure mode.

From an operational perspective, the RGE1200 offers protection of up to 1200A and is certified to IEC60601-2-22 safety standard. The device can be either manual or automatic reset and trips at a current level of 0.1 to 2A. It operates efficiently on a wide range of input voltages from 400V AC/DC to 600V AC/DC.

When installed into a suitable application, the RGE1200 provides reliable protection for electronics systems with efficient thermal management and maximum uptime. The internal construction of the device includes low temperature solders, which prevents fire and arc faults from occurring, and the device is designed to be over-pressure tolerant and over-voltage protected. Additionally, the fuse has been tested for operating temperature accuracy and can be expected to perform reliably in temperatures ranging from -40℃ to +85℃.

The RGE1200 works on the same principle as other thermal-magnetic circuit breakers, but with the added benefit of resetting itself after a thermally induced current interruption. The device is designed to open at a predetermined temperature to disconnect the circuit from its load and reset itself once the temperature has cooled sufficiently. The device has a solid-state temperature element and a bimetallic strip which are wired in parallel with the circuit.

When the current passing through the circuit exceeds the pre-set point, the temperature element increases in resistance and triggers a thermal-magnetic trip mechanism. This reduces the current level below the predetermined rating, cooling the temperature element and resetting the circuit. The device also incorporates ambient temperature compensation to prevent nuisance tripping in variable ambient temperatures.

The RGE1200 is suitable for a wide range of applications, including industrial machinery, building automation, electronics cooling, arc welding equipment, motors and generators, HVAC systems, and many more. It is particularly well-suited for high current applications and tight spaces where miniature circuit breakers may not fit.
