Introduction
A single rectifier diode is a two-terminal electrical device that allows current to flow in only one direction (from anode to cathode). RM 1V1 Working Principle

Once the forward voltage exceeds the diode’s reverse breakdown voltage, the diode will enter reverse breakdown mode, allowing current to flow in the opposite direction. This reverse flow of current is called reverse conduction. As the reverse voltage increases, the diode will then become more conductive in the reverse direction, until it reaches the maximum reverse current. At this point, the diode is considered to be in a state of avalanche breakdown.

When reverse current and voltage are outside the maximum permissible values, the diode will become unprotected and will be damaged. It is therefore important to select a diode that has a reverse voltage rating that is higher than the expected reverse voltage in the application. This will ensure the diode is adequately protected from being damaged by reverse voltages.

The RM 1V1 diode can also be utilized in application where rectification is needed (such as an AC/DC adapter). The rectifier action of the diode allows the current to flow in only one direction, and thus converts AC current to DC current. This is achieved by utilizing the reversible current flow, which is core characteristic of a rectifier diode.
