How does it work?TVS Varistors, like the ROV05-101K-S-2, utilize a semi-conductor diode structure in order to protect circuits. When a surge of voltage is encountered, the diode will clamps the voltage to a predetermined value, which is known as the clamping voltage. This clamping voltage is typically around 10V lower than the breakdown voltage of the device.When the voltage of the line is below the breakdown or clamping voltage, the diode will not conduct, and the voltage will remain the same. However, when the voltage of the line rises above the breakdown voltage, the Varistor quickly conducts current, allowing the voltage to drop to the clamping voltage. This is known as the clamping action of the TVS diode.The ROV05-101K-S-2 also features a small body size of 2.14mm x 1.14mm x 0.82mm, allowing it to fit into tight places.
