Working Principle

ROV10-621K utilizes a metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) device structure to protect the circuit from transient voltages. This structure is composed of a P-type MOS gate and an N-type MOS gate which is connected to the control terminal to the ground. The P-type gate is used to control the voltage signals, while the N-type gate is used to control the current flow.

When a transient voltage is applied (e.g. induced lightning strikes), the P-type gate will quickly reduce the voltage signal and the N-type gate will keep the current flow low. This will prevent any over-currents from damaging the circuit. The ROV10-621K also includes a temperature sensing thermistor, which will trigger a secondary protection circuit if the maximum temperature of the device is exceeded.
