The RUEF250-2 is a 7.5A, 250V PTC Resettable Fuse that provides reliable and cost-effective protection to wired and wireless telecommunications/networking systems from critical overcurrent faults that may otherwise result in device or system damage. The RUEF250-2 includes a thermal, electro-mechanical bimetallic construction. This PTC resettable fuse features an operating voltage of 250V and a rated current of 7.5A.
The RUEF250-2 is composed of two basic elements that work together to provide protection: the thermal element and the electro-mechanical element. The thermal element is responsible for responding to an increase in temperature, whereas the electro-mechanical element serves to ensure a reliable resetting response to any overcurrent condition. The thermal element is activated when it reaches a temperature of 11°C (52°F). At that point, it rapidly moves a contact arm up to break any excessive voltage that may be present. In the case of overcurrent flow, this same thermal element restrains a bimetallic plate, which eventually reaches a temperature high enough to cause the electro-mechanical element to move. This movement will trip the system, disconnecting the relevant devices and components.
Due to the RUEF250-2\'s small size and easy operation, it is widely available in the majority of standard situations. Each RUEF250-2 unit is capable of reliably supplying the rated load at 250V and 7.5A. It is also able to withstand an overcurrent of 7.5A-10A, enabling it to re-establish the original circuit connection after the overcurrent fault has been rectified.
