When the circuit current increases to a certain value, the ceramic substrate generates heat due to the Joule heating effect, which increases the resistance of the PTC. This increases the resistance of the product, so that the resistance value is equal to the threshold value of the over-current protection level, and the current is interrupted to play the role of overload protection.
