Working Principle
The RUS 300 device utilizes a hybrid combinationalrotary system that combines a motor driven potentiometerand displacement sensor. Its operating principle is basedon three fundamental sub-systems that measure linear,angular, and rotation data. These three subsystems are asfollows:
- Angular displacement measurement system: Thissystem measures the rotation, speed, and acceleration of astator from a reference system. The angular system is madeup of a counter attached to a reference system, and arotating reference system mounted on the stator. Whenrotation occurs, data is measured through the use of acounter.
- Linear displacement measurement system: This systemmeasures the linear motion of a stator from a referencesystem. Its mechanism is based on the use of variablerotor magnets, placed on either side of the stator, toprovide a linear output signal. This output is then usedto measure the linear displacement.
- Rotation measurement system: This system measures therotation of a stator relative to its reference system. Itconsists of a torsion spring mounted to the stator, and arotating reference system. Data is collected through theuse of a ratiometric transducer, which measures theangular rotation of the stator.
The data collected from each of these subsystems is thenprocessed and outputted in the form of a voltage orcurrent signal. This signal can then be used by a controlsystem to calculate the angular, linear, and rotationalmotion of the stator.
The RUS 300 device is a compact, low-cost solution forangle or displacement measurements. Its hybrid rotarysystem provides a reliable and cost-effective system formeasurements.
