Optoisolators are devices which employ the principle of light energy transfer and electrical isolation to move data over short distances. Triac, SCR (@silicon controlled rectifier) output optoisolators are used for controlling AC loads.

S11ME5 application field and working principle

The S11ME5 is an optoisolator designed to control a single phase AC load in a variety of applications. The device can handle voltages up to 240VAC, and can operate at frequencies up to 400 Hz. Since the device utilizes a zero-crossing detection and a triac output, it is suitable for a wide range of AC load control applications, such as motor control, dimming systems, lighting systems, and home automation.
