RFI and EMI - Contacts, Fingerstock and Gaskets

The S1411-46R is a contact, fingerstock and gasket specifically designed to reduce Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) and Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI). It is part of a diverse selection of contact, fingerstock and gasket components from the Shielding and Interference Solutions division of May-Port Industries.The S1411-46R contact, fingerstock and gasket combination features a closed-cell, conductive silicone gasket that is adhered to a reversible fingerstock made from a nickel-alloy. The nickel-alloy fingerstock provides a conductive and static shielding of the enclosure, preventing unwanted signal ingress. On the interior side of the fingerstock, there is a contact material made of beryllium copper.The beryllium copper contact material provides a low impedance connection with the adjoining interface. This low impedance connection helps reduce signal reflections which in turn, helps to reduce EMI emission into surrounding environment. The combination of contact and gasket material creates a shielding wall that effectively shields the interior of the enclosure from outside signals and interference.In high-speed applications, the contact, fingerstock and gasket material helps to reduce the cross-talk among the signal lines. In order to curate cross-talk, the contact, fingerstock and gasket material helps to reduce the inductance of the signal lines. This helps keep the signal lines from loading and coupling on each other as well as reduce the signal propagation loss & reflections, which can cause data errors in high-speed applications.The S1411-46R contact, fingerstock and gasket material also provide enhanced environmental protection. Thanks to its silicone construction, the gasket is able to provide extra protection against dust, humidity and temperature.
