Working Principle of S16LCC05-8TR

As a uniform voltage (VBO) is applied to the TVS diode, the current will start to increase. At the breakdown voltage, the maximum peak current level (IPP) is reached. The TVS diode then starts to clamp the voltage to breakdown with a lower current value, which is termed “sustain current” (Isus). The S16LCC05-8TR uses its Zener diode characteristics to protect overstressed circuits. This device also offers superior clamping and fast recovery times as compared to other standard TVS diodes.
