The device normally has two operational states; off-state and on-state. On application of low current and voltage, it switches off and allows high current and voltage to pass through its body in a predetermined direction. This transition is made possible by a certain current levels known as the latching current which flows into the S2065KTP. If the current level exceeds the latching current, the device will trigger the transmission of energy to its output through an energised current flow.

The S2065KTP is powered from the positive side with a positive output to the negative side, both starts and stop with control of the off-state current, exceeding the latching current. This makes the device highly efficient and capable of handling higher currents for longer duration.
