TVS - DIODES
The S2315 is an ultra-high surge current protector diode which is a member of the TVS Diodes family. It is designed to protect electronic equipment from the damages of electro-static discharge (ESD), electrical over-stress (EOS) and other load hazards.
It uses a Zener diode in tandem with a lateral TRIPLE MAN transistor in order to limit surge current and voltage and offers an excellent robustness to various external factors. The S2315 has a low-power dissipation and significant capacitance with low threshold. It is also resistant to momentary over-voltage and is useful for a wide range of applications.
Application
The S2315 is suitable for use in applications such as video recorders, computers, telecommunication systems and other electronic devices.

Working principle
The S2315 employs a Zener diode in tandem with a lateral TRIPLE MAN transistor, which work to form a protection circuit. The Zener diode is reverse polarized with respect to the transistor so that it turns on first, providing a current path to the transistor.
Once the Zener diode has turned on, the current path then transfers to the base of the transistor, allowing it to conduct current until the circuit is switched off. This prevents the further buildup of the voltage and stops the protection circuit from becoming overloaded. The S2315 also has a built-in capacitance to absorb and dissipate any transient energy.
