Electric Double Layer Capacitors (EDLC) and Supercapacitors are two technical terms that often get used interchangeably but both devices vary in their application field and working principle.

The application field of EDLCs and Supercapacitors is primarily in start-stop-power applications, which require them to provide a quick burst of power to a system, such as in cars or heavy-duty industrial machines. In these applications, EDLCs are often used to provide a fast, reliable power source when the system needs to be switched on or off quickly, such as during engine start-stop cycles.

Supercapacitors are also used in high-power applications such as electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and laser power supplies. They are more suitable for applications that require high peak power, such as regenerative braking systems, solar and wind power systems, and electric vehicle acceleration. In these applications, the supercapacitor\'s ability to store and release power quickly, as well as its long lifespan makes it a great choice.
