Diodes - Rectifiers - Single - S3MHR7G Application Field and Working Principle

S3MHR7G is a high-performance rectifier that belongs to the family of single rectifiers. This product is designed for high efficiency, wider temperature range, high reliability and low forward voltage drop. It is manufactured by GSI Technologies, a leader in contemporary diode technology.

S3MHR7G rectifier has an operating voltage range between 75 V to 1000 V. It is capable of withstanding a high peak inverse voltage of 2.25 - 4.8V. The maximum operating temperature range for S3MHR7G is -55°C to +175°C. The forward voltage drop is every low and frequency rates self-recovery capability is high, making it well suited for many applications.

Due to its high power handling capability and efficient current flow, S3MHR7G is often used in applications such as server power supplies, communications equipment, automotive electronics, power converters and other heavy-duty power applications. The working principle of the S3MHR7G rectifier is that it is connected in series with an alternating voltage source. This causes the alternating current to alternate between positive and negative values in each direction, thus allowing the rectifier to rectify the current.

When the AC voltage is positive, the p-type diode is forward biased, and the n-type diode is reverse biased. This causes the current to flow in a single direction and hence the AC is rectified into DC. When the AC voltage is negative, the opposite occurs; the n-type diode is forward biased, and the p-type diode is reverse biased. This prevents the AC current from flowing, thus rectifying it into DC.

The S3MHR7G rectifier is widely used in many industries because of its reliable performance and high efficiency.
