S7512BS is a highly efficient, low voltage, low power integrated circuit for driving and controlling fan motor speed. It is designed to improve ac fan motor control efficiency by reducing system power consumption and optimizing fan motor performance. The S7512BS has been widely used in fan driving application fields such as computer cooling system, fan speed control, speed regulation systems and air scrubber.

The S7512BS is composed of a full-bridge gate driver, linear motor control driver, over current protection, and a self-shutdown circuit. The full-bridge gate driver consists of a dual channel gate driver, providing adjustable voltage output, current protection and current mirror compensation. Its linear motor control driver provides over current protection and low noise current control. Over current protection circuit prevents the catastrophic failure of the motor control switch, while the self-shutdown circuit prevents any further damage to the system in case of over-current.

The main working principle of the S7512BS is to adjust the motor speed according to the external sensing signals. A control voltage is generated by making use of the output voltage from the voltage adjuster circuit and the linear compensation current. The output voltage of the adjustable voltage source is fed to the bridge rectifier to produce full bridge output voltage. This full bridge output voltage is then interfaced to the linear fan motor control driver and consequently to the motor to achieve the desired motor speed.

The linear motor control driver in the S7512BS is designed to generate a continuous current for the operating motor. The output current is adjusted by the sensing voltage signal. The sensing voltage is compared with a reference voltage and then the active voltage regulator adjusts the output current of the motor drive. With this constant current control technique, the S7512BS is able to provide an optimal motor drive through varying motor load.
