Working Principle
The SA170ARLG comes with two diodes connected in a series configuration and acts as an ideal TVS. The current flow is reflected by the response time depending on the peak current of the surge event. The sum of the breakdown voltages of the two diodes determines the device voltage rating. These diodes become operable when the voltage accumulated across them is greater than their breakdown voltage rating. This device is suitable for AC or DC-driven surge protection and fast-rising and decaying-edge surge protection.
The SA170ARLG is designed with an active surge protection profile that helps to further reduce the component power loss during active operation.
