SC2220-101 is one such fixed inductor whose applications and working principle we are going to discuss in this blog.SC2220-101 is a wire wound power inductor developed for the highest performance couplers and small filters used in RF systems. It has a small profile of 2.2mm x 2.2mm which allows for compact designs. It is characterised by a low DCR, excellent surge and high current capabilities, and offers improved power handling due to its larger core size and more efficient winding design.The main application field of the SC2220-101 is in RF systems. Its ability to handle high current allows it to be used in HF amplifiers, VCOs, mixers, RF switches, and other high-power radio equipment. Its high inductance enables it to be used in high-frequency positive and negative bias suppression networks as well as small- to medium-sized filter constructions used in RF systems. The SC2220-101 can also be used in waveguide circuits, small antennas, and harmonic resonators.The working principle of the SC2220-101 is based on Faraday\'s magnetic fieldcore theory. According to this theory, a current through a fixed inductor produces a magnetic field in the inductor\'s core which induces a voltage across it. The magnitude of this induced voltage is directly proportional to the strength of the magnetic field, and thus to the size of the induced current depending on the inductance value. That is why the SC2220-101 is characterised by high inductance which allows the inductor to maintain a stable voltage and current level even in the presence of a high degree of interference.The high inductance of the SC2220-101 benefits from its small size, high efficiency design and larger air gap. This allows the inductor to maintain a high degree of inductance while also providing high current and low DCR characteristics. Its low DCR further reduces power losses, while its large air gap provides greater protection against saturation. This helps to maximise the efficiency of the inductor and deliver superior performance in a wide range of applications.The SC2220-101 is also highly reliable.
