<p>The SC4910BITSTRT from Texas Instruments is a Application Specific Standard Product (ASSP) designed for automotive power management needs. It is a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) that provides a single-supply operation with extremely fast transient response. It features a high-frequency synchronous buck (SFB) regulator and two buck converters that feature an adjustable switching frequency ranging from 200 kHz to 2.2 MHz. Additionally, a synchronous low side (LS) buck regulator provides extra current capability and a parallel voltage regulator helps reduce output ripple.</p><p>The SC4910BITSTRT provides a wide input voltage range that supports enable/disable operation at start-up, key off, and thermal configuration. The device also features variable soft start, adjustable frequency, and regulated output voltage. It is designed to turn off at overload and output voltage conditions as well as providing reverse current protection for the PMIC. The device is also protected from overtemperature and ESD events on all internal and external connections. The SC4910BITSTRT is RoHS-compliant, UL-recognized, and meets AEC-Q100 Rev. 5 temperature grade 1.(1)</p><p>The SC4910BITSTRT features a synchronous buck (SFB) regulator and two buck converters that provide the ability to drive four independent loads. The SFB regulator is capable of providing up to 4 A of output current for applications that require higher current. The two buck converters can provide up to 2.5 A of output current each and offer adjustable switching frequency that ranges from 200 kHz to 2.2 MHz. The device also has a synchronous low side (LS) buck regulator to provide additional current capability and a parallel voltage regulator to reduce output ripple.</p><p>The SC4910BITSTRT works in a single-supply operation with an adjustable switching frequency that allows it to track input voltage changes quickly and produce high efficiency over a wide load range. Additionally, the device includes a soft start capability to reduce inrush current on start-up and an adjustable frequency that helps reduce the acoustic noise in audio amplifiers. The device is also capable of enabling/disabling at start-up and key off, and protection features protect the device from ESD and over temperature.</p><p>The SC4910BITSTRT is ideal for applications such as charging systems, automotive audio systems, power supplies for digital SLRs and other digital cameras, digital displays, PDAs, medical devices and other applications with strict power management requirements. It is also an excellent choice for powering systems that require lower acoustic noise, such as those found in automobiles and consumer electronic devices.</p>
