Diodes are extremely important electronic components used in almost every electronic system. They are mostly used as rectifiers, which are devices used to convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). A single diode has two modes of operation, forward bias and reverse bias. When the diode is in forward bias, it behaves like a conductor, allowing current to pass freely. When the diode is in reverse bias, it behaves like an insulator, preventing current from passing freely. With a single diode, the current can only flow in one direction.
