SDUR820 Application Field and Working Principle

SDUR820 is a diode device from Ixys Semi-conductor. It is a general-purpose, one-way rectifier diode which is capable of handling up to 820V DC rating. The SDUR820 is a one-way (unidirectional) semiconductor device that converts AC power to DC power. It consists of a single diode with two terminals - an anode and a cathode. When the anode is connected to the positive terminal of AC source, the diode conducts current and changes alternating current to direct current. When the opposite happens, the current does not flow through the diode.

The device\'s "forward" characteristics describe the behavior of the device when forward biased, or when the anode is connected to the positive terminal of the power source. The forward voltage drop (VF) is the amount of voltage that must be applied at the anode of the diode in order for current to flow. The forward current (IF) is the amount of current that can be conducted by the diode in the forward direction. The forward recovery time (tR) is the amount of time it takes for the diode to recover from the forward current.
