SI5100-H-XL4

The SI5100-H-XL4 is a member of Silicon Labs’ family of true non-blocking crosspoint ICs. The device is built using an advanced tiled architecture for increased scalability and greater density. This switch is designed for applications requiring high performance, cost-effective switching of high-speed digital signals.

Application Field

The SI5100-H-XL4 is ideal for use in a variety of applications such as high-speed video switching, multimedia switching, video conferencing, CCTV, transport, base station switching, and multiset accuracy. The device is also well-suited for applications requiring backplane switching, point to point switching, channelized switching, digital crosspoints, and redundant switching. The device also offers an on-board distributed switching architecture, as well as automatic channel assignment and dynamic channel switching.

Working Principle

The SI5100-H-XL4 features an optimized non-blocking architecture that enables high-speed switching of up to eight differential pairs or up to four digital links. The device utilizes a highly scalable switching matrix that can be configured to switch any combination of links, while maintaining a low pin count and small package size. The device also includes a low-speed control interface to easily configure the switching matrix, as well as support for dynamic switching. The SI5100-H-XL4 is capable of switching speeds up to 30 MHz, with a propagation delay of less than 12 ns.

The device also includes an error correction system to minimize the effects of signal distortion caused by signal reflections and signal coupling. The error correction system provides an additional layer of signal integrity protection, ensuring reliable performance and data integrity. The device is capable of operating over a wide range of temperatures, from -40°C to 85°C, ensuring reliable switch operation in extreme environments.

In order to support low power operation, the SI5100-H-XL4 features an integrated power management system. This system provides the device with multiple power-saving modes, including sleep and deep sleep modes, ensuring the device is always in a low power state when not in use. Additionally, the device includes an I2C compatible interface, allowing for easy integration into existing systems.
