The SI52111-B3-GM2 is a highly-integrated clock and data recovery (CDR) device designed for emerging wireline and optical applications. The device provides a single, low-jitter reference clock from any AC-coupled, continuous-wave (CW) optical or electrical input signal within the frequency range of 4.268 to 4.554GHz. In addition to providing a low-jitter reference clock, the device also features a wide selection of timing outputs, allowing it to function as a multiphase clock generator or as a clock multiplier. The device also incorporates multiple internal power supply regulators as well as integrated shielded inductors for noise immunity. The SI52111-B3-GM2 operates by converting the input CW optical or electrical signal into a digital signal. The 5-bit phase interpolator with selectable bandwidth then converts the digital signal into a high-resolution phase waveform. The phase waveform is then passed through the digital phase detection and control system, which analyzes the phase waveform and determines the phase difference between the incoming waveform and the phase detector. The rate-converter then converts the incoming waveform to the required output frequency. Finally, the low-latency rate converter output is passed to the wide variety of timing outputs.
