The SI5320-F-BC is a low-power, low-jitter, digital clock generator IC synthesized with an integrated voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and a fractional-N modulator. This clock generator can generate up to 32 independent clock frequencies with a maximum output frequency of 840MHz and a minimum frequency of 0.1Hz. It can provide very low ripple, jitter, and skew across six outputs or fan-out muxed outputs. Beside the versatile fractional-N modulator, the SI5320-F-BC includes a programmable internal loop filter, clock output network, power good detector, and a variety of power-saving features such as operating current reduction and AutoShutdown.The SI5320-F-BC is designed for consumer devices, communications systems, portable test systems, and other digital electronics that require low-jitter and low-power clocking solutions. It is ideal for systems that require multiple, independent clock frequencies, and is a cost-effective solution for timing and synchronization of consumer devices, wireless and wired communications systems, FPGA/PLDs, serialATA, and other peripherals.The main application fields of the SI5320-F-BC are consumer electronics, broadcast systems, digital radios, digital TV, GSM/CDMA base station systems, wireless communications, optical networks, and fibre channel systems. It provides high-precision frequency synthesizer solutions for these application fields.The working principle of the SI5320-F-BC is based on a phase-locked loop (PLL) architecture. The basic PLL circuit consists of an oscillator, phase/frequency detector, low-pass filter, and VCO. The frequency of the oscillator is locked to the reference clock signal by the PLL. The integrated VCO amplifies the signal, and then its output is filtered by the integrated loop filter, resulting in a stable output signal.The SI5320-F-BC is able to synthesize frequency sources that are very close to the reference signal at a very economical price and with very low jitter. It also has a wide range of power-saving features, making it an ideal choice for systems that require very low power operations.
