The Si5335A-B02836-GM is a high-performance, low-jitter clock generator IC (integrated circuit) specifically designed for telecommunications and computing applications. This device integrates an accurate, low-power reference clock generator, a wide range of selectable input and output frequencies, a PLL (phase locked loop) subsystem, and a number of additional features to provide the industry\'s highest possible clock jitter performance.

The Si5335A-B02836-GM is part of a growing family of clock generators and generators with PLLs that can be used in a wide range of applications. These include applications such as communications backbones, wireless networks, computer servers, storage systems, video security systems, and data acquisition systems.

This clock generator IC helps in providing a reliable timing signal for a wide range of applications. The IC Outputs a 50MHz higher-than-datasheet rated reference clock frequency, along with its three differential outputs, with very low jitter of less than 0.4ps RMS, and as low as 0.2ps RMS typical. It has integrated reference spread spectrum (SSC) control, enabling dynamic jitter control, as well as low phase noise, with an output jitter of 300fs RMS over any 12kHz-to-20MHz-bandwidth noise.

This clock generator IC is also IEEE 1588-compliant and can be synchronized with an external time-stamping precision reference clock. Its frequency tuning range is 1600MHz to 2000MHz, while its output frequency range is 20MHz to 165MHz.

The Si5335A-B02836-GM integrates a variety of features and functions that enable high-precision, accurate operation in communications applications. These features and functions include an on-chip voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), frequency division circuit, low jitter output buffers, spread spectrum control, and frequency trimming.

The VCO operates at 3325MHz to 4128MHz and provides an output frequency of 40MHz to 1GHz with a static frequency error of 3ppm and a dynamic frequency drift (DDF) of 2 ppm/V. The PLL section provides fractional-N and integer-N frequency synthesis, as well as zero-delay buffer (ZDB) operation for optimum performance.

The integrated frequency division circuit helps to divide the reference oscillator frequency to give higher output frequency. The division can be adjusted real time with a wide division ratio of 1/128 to 128 without changing the reference clock frequency.

The low-jitter output buffers in the IC help to reduce transmission jitter and improve system performance. The spread spectrum control feature helps to reduce EMI (electromagnetic interference) and provide additional immunity from external noise. The frequency trimming feature helps to accurately set the output frequency of the IC for adjustable frequency operation.

In addition, the Si5335A-B02836-GM has integrated active power-saving features that allow it to be used in demanding applications and help to extend the system’s battery life. This makes it an ideal choice for battery-powered systems.
