Working Principle

The SI5338B-B01350-GMR is based on a patented Multipurpose MultiSynth architecture which enables programmable output clock frequencies from 3kHz to 500MHz. The device has 10 outputs that are individually programmable and have integrated jitter attenuation for superior performance.The device is functionally split into two parts: the Programmable Frequency Synthesizer (PFL) and the MultiSynth. The PFL accepts a crystal reference input and generates a 10-bit binary number representing a part of the desired output frequency. This is then sent to MultiSynth that modulates it to generate the desired output frequency.

The SI5338B-B01350-GMR integrates a MultiSynth PlusTM capability which adds additional levels of flexibility to the MultiSynth architecture. The MultiSynth PlusTM architecture allows for independent control of the output’s frequency, duty-cycle and jitter. This makes it possible to generate complex clock waveforms such as spread spectrum and modulated clock signals.
