The SI5338Q-B-GMR is an integrated clock generator capable of providing up to four unique clock outputs from a single reference input (fanout = 4). It can generate a wide variety of complex clock networks from a low-jitter reference clock, ideal for LTE Macro/micro cell infrastructure, wireless base stations, access, edge and core routing solutions, wired communication systems, including 10 Gbs backplane or copper, as well as clock trees/networks. It can also be used in timing and synchronization, distributed clocking and SONET/SDH/OTN timing solutions.

The SI5338Q-B-GMR contains a low-jitter, high-accuracy oscillator and voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) that can generate clocks with frequencies up to 500 MHz. The VCO is capable of producing an output clock with a frequency up to 500 MHz and at a duty cycle of 80 % to 20 % (± 5 %). The oscillator has a low-jitter of 1.2ps for an input reference clock of 100MHz. The SI5338Q-B-GMR also features an on-chip multiplier which can be used to generate a range of frequencies up to 200 MHz.

The SI5338Q-B-GMR provides a number of programmable options that allow the user to customize the device to fit the specific application. It has programmable frequency dividers, bandwidth adjustment, phase interpolation, clock multiplication, output skew, and slew-rate control. It also provides integrated spread-spectrum modulation circuits, allowing for the generation of several low-jitter clocks simultaneously with broadband spreading for reduced electromagnetic interference (EMI).

The SI5338Q-B-GMR can also provide clock synchronizing and phase alignment functionality for multi-clock communication systems. Its internal Phase Alignment Engine (PAE) allows the device to align multiple clock domains, compensating for frequency offset, clock drifts, and phase jitter between different domains. This eliminates the need for external phase alignment devices, reducing system cost and complexity.

The SI5338Q-B-GMR is designed to be frequency and phase-agile, providing the flexibility required for high-speed data communication, synchronization and timing systems. It can be used in many different applications such as LTE macro/micro cell infrastructure, wireless base stations, access, edge and core routing solutions, wired communications systems including 10 Gbs backplane or copper, video broadcast, timing and synchronization systems, distributed clocking and SONET/SDH/OTN timing solutions.
