The SI5346B-D-GM is a highly versatile clock generator / jitter attenuator device that is designed for use in a variety of application fields. This device offers an exceptionally wide frequency range and is ideal for applications with multiple clock or jitter requirements, such as network switches, base band radio systems, optical communications, datacom equipment, and industrial controls.

The SI5346B-D-GM produces up to 4 outputs with jitter performance levels as low as 0.03 UI, making it one of the most reliable clock generators on the market. It is designed to be very flexible, allowing for a wide range of source and output frequencies to be achieved. This device also offers a wide range of features such as input monitoring, skew and clock switchover, and integrated programmable voltage regulators.

The SI5346B-D-GM operates using a Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) architecture that is composed of a reference oscillator, a phase-frequency detector, a voltage-controlled oscillator, and a phase-locked loop filter circuit. The phase detector is used to compare the phase and frequency of the input signal with the output of the voltage-controlled oscillator, and the output is then compared to the phase and clock signals. When there is a match, the output frequency is locked to the reference frequency.

The SI5346B-D-GM is optimized for low jitter applications and utilizes several key technologies to achieve this result. It has an on-chip clock buffer, which reduces jitter by eliminating the need for external clock drivers and buffers. It also utilizes a flattening filter to reduce jitter to within 0.03 UI and has two multipliers to provide the highest output frequencies. The device also utilizes clock feedback, which is a mechanism where a signal from the output is fed back to the input to remove duty cycle distortion from the output clock, which helps to reduce jitter while maintaining a stable output signal.
