The SI5348A-B-GM is a Clock/Timing device that is especially useful in a wide range of applications that require complex clock function and generation. The output from the VCXO is used to generate other frequency-based output clocks, such as Multiplication Clocks (MCs).In order to achieve different frequencies, the Multiplication Clocks are then fed into digital divide clocks (or divider clocks), and this allows the SI5348A-B-GM to different frequencies by various amounts.The other component of the SI5348A-B-GM is its PLL – a digital system to keep the various outputs in synchronization over a wide range of environmental conditions. The purpose of the PLL is to act as a type of digital loop filter. It continuously adjusts the clock’s output frequency according to the signal from the reference input clock, a maximum reference frequency which can be divided down and output signal frequencies, and a range of settings for the other signal outputs. The SI5348A-B-GM uses a digitally-controlled oscillator to optimize the PLL to provide a high degree of accuracy in the system’s clock outputs. This digital loop filter keeps the outputs from drifting due to temperature variation, required process scalability, and other effects that can cause system instability.The SI5348A-B-GM can satisfy the needs of applications who need a wide variety of clock functions, as well as frequency-synchronized operations.
