This device is a fractional-N frequency synthesizer which provides a wide range of output frequencies and noise floor performance ideal for many high-performance applications. It is a programmable digital Filter, which allows filter settings to be changed from the original design board.The device is used to generate frequency signals with great accuracy and stability. It contains an oscillator which is based on the analog phase-locked loop (PLL) principle; a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) is used to generate the frequency signals, and the loop control amplifier is used to lock the VCO onto a reference clock signal in order to maintain the required frequency accuracy. It can also be used in surveillance and security systems, high-speed transceivers and modems, digital video and audio systems, millimeter wave and ultrasound transceivers, as well as high-end test and measurement equipment.The SI5350A-B07052-GM is designed to provide extremely precise output frequencies ranging from 100 kHz up to 5.2 GHz, with a jitter of only 1 ps. Its wide frequency range is divided into four frequency bands: the low-frequency range (100 to 1.0 GHz); the mid-frequency range (1.0 to 2.1 GHz); the high-frequency range (2.1 to 3.5 GHz); and the ultra-high frequency range (3.5 to 5.2 GHz). The SI5350A-B07052-GM utilizes an on-board processor and 12-bit frequency resolution which can be divided into 8 sub-bands to achieve the required frequency range.The device is programmed using the I2C serial interface, which operates at 2 Mbit/s or 400 Kbit/s data rates. It supports 3.3V and 5V logic levels with the two onboard voltage regulators. It also supports low power consumption and is designed to operate over the industrial -40 to +125 °C temperature range.The SI5350A-B07052-GM also incorporates 7 Fractional-N dividers, 5 programmable dividers, and 7 K frequency dividers. The 7 K-divider and Fractional-N dividers allow for output frequencies as low as 0 or as high as 128 times the PLL reference clock frequency. This is significantly lower than competing frequency synthesizers and provides greater frequency granularity.Overall, the SI5350A-B07052-GM is an excellent solution for sensitive applications which demand precise frequency production.
