The SI5350C-B03054-GT is an integrated clock signal generator from Silicon Labs. The SI5350C-B03054-GT is designed to provide a wide-range of frequency and timing solutions to the data communication, storage, and telecom market.The SI5350C-B03054-GT is a low-power, PLL-based clock synthesizer, capable of generating a wide range of frequencies up to 250MHz. It operates at a frequency stability of ±1 ppm and is configured to support a variety of output formats such as LVPECL, LVDS, HCSL, and HCSL-A. It features a low-jitter internal oscillator that provides reliable, low-jitter timing solutions for high-performance applications. The Si5350C-B03054-GT also includes a selectable power-down feature, programmable spread spectrum, frequency synthesis and control, and programmable digital PLLs.The SI5350C-B03054-GT can be used in many clock-generating applications, including frequency synthesizers and PLLs, as well as frequency multipliers and dividers. With its wide range of compatible output formats, the SI5350C-B03054-GT can be used in a variety of timing-critical applications including; Networking applications, Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB), and Base Station Transmitters.The primary function of the SI5350C-B03054-GT is to generate a desired frequency from an input source. To do this, it makes use of a phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit. A PLL circuit consists of a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) that is connected to a reference source. The oscillator is locked to the reference source, and the output frequency is controlled by adjusting the VCO frequency.When the desired output frequency cannot be generated directly from the reference clock, a frequency multiplier can be used. A frequency multiplier works by taking the input reference frequency and multiplying it by an integer. This produces a higher output frequency, which is then used to generate the desired output frequency.A frequency divider can also be used to generate an output clock at a lower frequency than the reference clock. This is done by taking the reference clock and dividing it by a divisor. The reference clock is then fed into the VCO, and the output of the VCO is divided by a second divisor to produce the output clock.The SI5350C-B03054-GT also includes other features such as adjustable phase jitter, adjustable spread-spectrum modulation, and multiple outputs. The phase jitter can be adjusted to reduce interference, while the spread-spectrum modulation allows for precise control of output jitter and clock frequency drift.
