The SI5351A-B05513-GTR clock generator is a high precision, low cost, low power, fractional-N or integer-N synthesizer designed to support multiple clock frequencies up to 500MHz. It is based on Silicon Labs’ Si5351/2 clock generator IC, used in timing applications where multiplexed frequencies are required and low power consumption is key. The SI5351A-B05513-GTR has a range of different clock outputs and is suitable for applications such as clocks for FPGA/CPLD, microcontroller interconnects, microprocessors, modems, network interface cards, RF transceivers and other telecom applications. It can also be used to generate fan-frequency clocks, and can be employed in robotic motion control systems and servo motor control applications.

The main feature of the SI5351A-B05513-GTR is its support of fractional-N and integer-N synthesizer techniques. The SI5351A-B05513-GTR comprises an integrated voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and a frequency divider circuit. Depending on the application, the user can use the fractional-N divider, which is based on the ÷nQ modulus. Alternatively, the user can configure the frequency divider for the integer-N division. The divider can divide the input signal from 1 to 8192 and the user can choose from three operation modes – fractional division (mode 0), integer division (mode 1) and fractional division with programmable modulus (mode 5). The SI5351A-B05513-GTR can generate up to four independent output frequencies, with phase shift and phase noise controllable via an I2C interface.

The SI5351A-B05513-GTR also features output frequency multiplication, which allows it to generate frequencies up to 500MHz. It also supports up to four differential outputs, with a maximum output current of 18mA per output. The device is housed in a 13mm x 20mm QFN package, with a maximum power consumption of 160mA.
