The SI5356A-B02187-GMR is a high performance,Any-Rate Clock Generator that can be used for a variety of applications. It offers excellent clock jitter performance, clean output signals and programmable features, capable of generating output frequencies ranging from 0.1kHz to 1000MHz. The SI5356A-B02187-GMR is ideally suited for applications such as medical imaging, telecommunications, industrial computing and consumer electronics.
The SI5356A-B02187-GMR is a multi-faceted clock generator that contains several integrated blocks: an oscillator, a crystal oscillator, a phase-locked loop (PLL), a digital clock manager (DCM), an interpolator and a fractional-n frequency synthesizer. Essentially, it is a multi-faceted clock generator built on an external or internal Clock Reference or Crystal Frequency that allows users to generate multiple frequency clocks simultaneously.
Oscillator–The integrated VCO inside the SI5356A-B02187-GMR can be set to output signals up to 1000MHz, depending on the supply voltage and environmental conditions. The frequency of the output signal can be controlled in various ways, such as through dedicated settings, GPIO programming and control, or by using a PLL.
Crystal Oscillator–The SI5356A-B02187-GMR is equipped with an integrated crystal oscillator which is used to provide a clock source. This oscillator can output frequencies from 16KHz to 25MHz.
Phase-locked loop (PLL)–The SI5356A-B02187-GMR contains an integrated PLL which can be used to generate output clocks or reference clocks with clean edges and low jitter. The DCM can also be used to change the phase, frequency and delay of individual clock output signals, ensuring that the outputs are generated with low jitter and no phase discontinuities.
Interpolator–The SI5356A-B02187-GMR is equipped with an integrated interpolator, which can be used to generate multiple clock outputs with a frequency higher than the crystal oscillator’s frequency. This allows the SI5356A-B02187-GMR to be used in applications that require clocks with higher frequencies than can be generated by the crystal oscillator.
Fractional-n Frequency Synthesizer–The SI5356A-B02187-GMR contains an integrated Fractional-n Frequency Synthesizer that can generate output clocks with frequencies that are fractions of the reference clock. This allows the SI5356A-B02187-GMR to generate output clocks with frequencies that are highly accurate with low jitter. The Fractional-n synthesizer is ideal for applications that require the generation of clocks with frequencies that have high-resolution frequency steps.
