The SI5356A-B04355-GM is a clock generator, phase-locked loop (PLL), and frequency synthesizer suitable for a wide range of applications. It is designed to provide clean and low-jitter clocks for high-speed connection and data communication systems. At the same time, it reduces the overall component count and board space as well as reduces system complexity and cost. The basic principle of PFS is to use two or more stages of frequency multiplication and division by two in order to achieve frequency division or division of the clock.

The second stage of PFS, the divider, receives the square-wave from the pump stage and divides or multiplies the reference frequency input, according to the level of the signals. This entire process is then repeated multiple times in order to generate the desired output frequencies.

The SI5356A-B04355-GM features two independent low frequency, two independent high frequency and two low swing dc-coupled outputs and provides a programmable output frequency range of 20kHz to 220MHz and output skew timing of only 100ps. It provides programmable frequency generation, as well as comprehensive clock/data synchronization. It is also equipped with an integrated loop filter, allowing designers to lower system cost and improve design complexity by eliminating the need of an external loop filter.
