Isolators are an important component of various electronics in industries with regular hazardous operation. Isolators are devices which enable two parties to communicate without the need for a physical connection which could endanger the safety of the operators. Isolators are often employed in I/O configurations and are used to achieve electrical isolation without compromising the signal integrity. One of the more compact and versatile isolators is the SI8751AB-ASR, a gate drive isolator.

The SI8751AB-ASR is a small, low power, dual-channel isolation system designed for half-bridge applications such as Brushless DC Motors (BLDC), AC Induction Motors (ACIM) and Open-Loop Isolated Converters. The device provides digital isolation of up to 1500V and is designed to be used in both low voltage and higher voltage systems, as it offers a low 600 ns propagation delay time. The device is housed in an industry-standard small outline SSOP or SOIC16 package, making it ideal for board placement in small form factor systems. In addition, the device has an integrated on board gate driver which is used for driving the MOSFETs in a half bridge system.

The SI8751AB-ASR gate driver is designed for power switch applications, such as those found in Ionisers, BRD printers and other commercial equipment. The device is available in a variety of packages and offers several features to make the device well suited for a wide variety of applications. The device is capable of both positive and negative input voltage, making it a perfect choice for both AC and DC signals.
