As no high voltages are involved, a small air gap between transformer has allowed to achieve the required galvanic isolation. The current-to-voltage receiver IC then converts the received current signal back to a voltage signal and outputs it.

SI8719BC-A-ISR has two isolated power supply pins that can provide power to both chips. The first one is the VIs_in pin which is connected to a 4.3 to 5.5v DC supply, and the second one is VIs_out which is isolated from the first one and connected to a 0.8 to 5.5v DC supply. The pins connected to the source and the receiver IC are also connected to a current-limit circuit which ensures that controlled voltage signals are transmitted. The typical open-loop current-to-voltage transfer gain is around 60 dB, making it very suitable for highly isolated applications.
